Workplace technologists, AV leaders, and enterprise decision-makers recently gathered at a unique, character-filled Boston venue—complete with "hidden doors"—for LogiWork Boston. This customer-led event series, built directly on feedback from IT, facilities, and workplace leaders, combined keynotes, panel discussions, and interactive product showcases to explore how spaces, technology, and people intersect. For PLASTARC, the gathering highlighted a vital industry evolution: a shift away from rigid corporate mandates and toward human experience, behavioral analytics, and empathetic cross-functional design.
In his opening keynote, Nathan Coutinho (Global Head of Alliance & Channel Marketing at Logitech) grounded the conversation by cutting through the "AI everywhere" hype, humorously noting his AI washer and dryer that leaves clothes wet 90% of the time. More importantly, he declared that the industry has moved past the hybrid debate: “We’ve kind of moved on from this whole concept of ‘Let’s talk about hybrid’… Now everyone’s just kind of figured out, okay, this is just the new way of working.”
However, this baseline reality brings distinct friction to physical layouts. With employees facing 275 to 500 interruptions daily, generic open plans are failing. Coutinho observed that while spaces look great on paper, “when you go to do the work, people are on top of each other… They’re like, I need a private space to make a call, because everyone’s driving me crazy.” From PLASTARC’s perspective, because there is no "average user," workspaces must move away from "one-size-fits-all" layouts toward a diverse spectrum of spaces—pods, phone booths, and focus zones—that support individual user personas and neurodiversity.
A major operational challenge highlighted at the event is the "room-finding problem," with surveys indicating that 80% of leaders struggle to find available desks or rooms. Craig Ishii (Product Marketing at Logitech) demonstrated how the Logitech Sync platform, Spot sensors, and automated features like auto-book and auto-release eliminate "ghost bookings" and space squatting by automatically freeing up unoccupied rooms. Ishii shared how granular tracking revealed a single phone booth was utilized at 78% on Tuesdays but sat completely empty on other days, justifying targeted, data-backed adjustments.
At PLASTARC, we view this technical data as an essential enterprise decision infrastructure. While sensors provide the "what" of space utilization, social research and ethnography provide the "so what." Integrating real-time occupancy and environmental data creates short feedback loops, allowing risk-averse organizations to de-risk design adjustments and back up spatial choices with clear evidence rather than design intuition.
A cross-functional panel featuring Andrew Christenberry, AV Site IT Lead at Mars, and Adam Drake Manager, AV Engineering at Yale University, addressed the historic communication barriers between real estate departments. Christenberry perfectly summarized this organizational friction: “My integrators talk in bill of materials and schematic drawings. My end users talk in ‘does it just work?’ And then my facilities team talks about power/data requirements… Those three different languages… have caused some historical friction.” To navigate this, he uses program management to translate these dialects into plain language and align stakeholders around shared KPIs.

Attendees experienced a live demonstration of spatial audio fencing, where a speaker's voice immediately dropped out for remote participants the moment they stepped outside a designated collaboration zone.
Underlying these innovations was a visible commitment to circular design, with Coutinho noting that over 75% of Logitech’s product lines utilize recycled plastic.
