Hosted at BlackRock’s stunning Hudson Yards office, this year’s WORKTECH New York was the perfect setting to explore what’s next in workplace experience. From activating underutilized spaces and fostering collaboration to designing offices that attract and retain top talent, every conversation circled back to one question: how do we make work… work better?
Unsurprisingly, AI took center stage. Speakers and attendees alike unpacked how artificial intelligence is reshaping business innovation, speed and productivity, and the very structure of teams.
In the panel “Reimagining Roles in the AI Era: New Structures, New Leaders,” Brett Martin (Fonzi AI, Columbia Business School), Anna A. Tavis, PhD (NYU School of Professional Studies), and Tim Walding (PwC) shared how organizations are rethinking traditional workforce models in the face of rapid technological change.
Key takeaways:
• AI isn't coming for your job. People who know how to use AI might.
• AI should support your work, not replace it. Your creativity and critical thinking are still your biggest
assets.
• Companies that rush AI adoption often create confusion and failed programs. Thoughtful integration wins.
• The most forward-thinking organizations aren't choosing between a great physical workplace and remote technology,
they're building a seamless ecosystem where both thrive together.
During the Future of Personalized Workplace Experience panel, Mauricio Toledo (Global Head of Workplace Operations at Warner Music Group) reminded us that while technology is evolving at lightning speed, it’s still the human, emotional, and cultural aspects that define how people truly experience work. “Technology should empower people, not distance them,” he said, a sentiment that resonated throughout the day.
In the end, WORKTECH NYC 2025 left us inspired, and maybe a little awed, by how fast the future of work is moving, and how much potential there is when humans and technology evolve side by side.
