Matter Surfaces

Advancing Sustainability Through Education and Circularity

Matter Surfaces engaged PLASTARC to help strengthen its sustainability leadership through two complementary initiatives focused on education, market positioning, and circularity.

The first initiative centered on the development of a certified Continuing Education Unit (CEU) designed to educate architects and designers on the role of entrance flooring in supporting sustainability, wellness, and building performance. Through research and stakeholder engagement, PLASTARC identified key themes, aligned messaging across internal teams, and developed a modular content platform that could support education, marketing, and sales efforts. Deliverables included the CEU storyline, presentation materials, visuals, speaker notes, and certification support for AIA and IIDA accreditation. PLASTARC also advised Matter Surfaces on long-term rollout and engagement strategies to maximize the program's impact.

The second initiative focused on Freecycle, Matter Surfaces' circular take-back program. PLASTARC facilitated stakeholder interviews, visioning sessions, and strategic workshops to align internal teams around a shared vision, priorities, and success metrics. The team then developed a roadmap connecting operations, partnerships, communications, and market engagement activities needed to support adoption and growth. To simplify the program's value proposition, PLASTARC translated the circular process into a clear six-step lifecycle framework and created supporting tools for sales, training, and leadership alignment.

Together, these efforts provided Matter Surfaces with a cohesive platform for communicating its sustainability story, educating the market, and advancing circular practices across the flooring industry.
